Five questions, then you see every fee line by line. Each item explains why it is charged and what to watch out for. Prices as of 11 September 2026.

How many company visas?

For yourself, co-founding shareholders and employees. Not for your spouse and children, they get a family visa.

Why do I need a visa at all?

The licence is your permission to do business in Dubai. It does not let you live there. For that you need a residence visa, and the visa is tied to the licence.

Without a visa you can own a company and run it from abroad. But you will not get an Emirates ID, a personal bank account, a driving licence or local health insurance.

Everyone who works for or owns the company and wants to live in Dubai needs their own slot: you, a partner who founds with you, and every employee.

If you are really moving, you need at least one visa. If you only want to hold a company, you can do without.

Company visa or family visa, what is the difference?

A company visa is issued by the company. It is for people who belong to the company: you as the founder, a partner who joins as a shareholder or is employed by you, and your staff. Only these visas count here and use a slot on the licence.

A family visa is one you sponsor yourself, once you hold your own company visa. That is how your spouse and children join you. It runs through your personal file with the immigration authority, not through IFZA, and does not use a slot on the licence.

Example: you set up alone and move with your wife and two children. Then you choose 1 visa here. The three family visas come later, roughly AED 3,700 per person. In our own application in September 2026 it came to AED 3,705 for the wife.

Count only company visas here. What your family costs is shown in the full relocation calculator further down.

How many visas make sense?

The licence sets how many visas you are allowed to issue. That allocation costs money, even if you never use it.

Up to the fourth visa, each slot adds 2,000 dirhams a year; after that, the licence gets no more expensive. From the fourth visa, IFZA requires a real office.

So if you need four slots, you get six more at no extra licence cost. The running costs per person still apply.

Three visas is the threshold. From four, the office requirement kicks in, but your allocation then goes up to ten.

For how long?

Longer terms are cheaper, but only on the licence.

Is a longer licence term worth it?

IFZA gives up to 30 per cent off when you book several years in advance. But the discount only applies to the licence fee.

The annual registration fee of 3,500 dirhams and the Establishment Card renewal are charged in full. So the saving on the total is much smaller than the advertised percentage.

Technically, a multi-year licence is still issued every year. You receive a letter confirming the term and an automatic renewal.

Five years saves roughly a quarter compared with five single years. But you are committed and pay everything upfront.

How many shareholders?

The owners of the company, including you.

Who counts as a shareholder?

Shareholders are the owners of the company. In the free zone you can own one hundred per cent yourself, no local partner needed.

The first three shareholders are free. From the fourth, each one costs 350 dirhams. If another company holds shares, that costs 750 dirhams per company.

The number of shareholders also decides the type of visa: the investor visa is only for sole owners. With several owners, the partner visa is the option, and a company can have at most two.

Up to three shareholders at no cost. Sole owners have more choice when it comes to visas.

What does your business do?

Search for your activity. The calculator then sets approvals and surcharges for you.

Up to three activities. The ticks below then set themselves, but you can also tick them directly.

Why does my activity cost extra?

IFZA distinguishes between services and trading. If you do both, you pay a surcharge of 2,000 dirhams. General trading costs an extra 10,000 dirhams.

These surcharges are not one-off setup costs. IFZA’s own fact sheet states clearly that they are charged again at every renewal.

Of the 826 possible activities, 244 also need sign-off from a second authority, such as food safety or the transport authority. For 53 of them, the approval has to be in place before the licence is even issued.

Choose as few categories as possible. Every extra category costs you again every year.

    What is the Establishment Card?

The Establishment Card is your company’s ID with the immigration authority. Without it, you cannot apply for a single visa.

It costs 2,000 dirhams in the first year and 2,200 dirhams for every renewal after that. This is exactly the item missing from advertised prices.

When a provider advertises 12,900 dirhams, that is the licence and registration. With the Establishment Card it is 14,900 dirhams, and with one visa at least around 19,800 dirhams.

No Establishment Card, no visa. Always include it.

    How reliable is the promotion?

IFZA runs a new promotion almost every month. The details change, the framework stays similar: discounts on multi-year licences and waivers on certain surcharges.

The current promotion covers the setup and the three renewals after it, so four years. For a trading company, that is the biggest single item of all.

You can lock in the price with a 5,000 dirham deposit and then have until the end of November to complete the setup.

There is practically always a promotion. All that matters is how long the current one runs.

    How to get started

Four steps, and your setup is under way

    1. 1

We briefly work out which option suits you. No obligation, directly with Metin and Mo.

    2. 2

You get a short engagement letter

It says exactly what we take care of and what it costs. Nothing starts until you sign.

Via a secure link. We check everything before anything is submitted.

We submit and keep you posted

At every step you know where your application stands and what comes next.

    Before you set up

Four assumptions that can cost you dearly

These are the points where people who go it alone get stuck after a few months. Not the licence, that comes quickly, but everything that follows.

    1. 01

“You pay no tax at all in Dubai.”

9 per cent corporate tax on taxable income above 375,000 AED. The band below that is not a tax exemption, it is a threshold.

    2. 02

“No revenue means nothing to report.”

Every new company must register for corporate tax within three months of being set up, even with zero revenue. Miss the deadline and you pay 10,000 AED.

    3. 03

“In the free zone it is 0 per cent anyway.”

Only with qualifying free zone person status, and that requires substance, transfer pricing and audited annual accounts. The audit can cost more than the tax you save.

    4. 04

“I own the company outright, that is all the authorities need.”

The ultimate beneficial owner register must be told about every change within 15 days. Fines go up to 100,000 AED. Records have to be kept for seven years.

    Second calculator, free

What does your move really cost?

The calculator above shows you the company. But that is the smaller part. For everything else we built a second calculator of its own: housing, deposit, removals, school fees, car and insurance. So you see what your first year in Dubai really costs, split into one-off and monthly.

    FAQ

What most people want to know first

What will setting up really cost in the end?

The calculator above works out the government fees for you to the dirham, from AED 12,900 for one year without a visa (licence and registration). On top of that comes our fee: free, €1,999 or €4,999, depending on how much we take off your plate. Items such as health insurance, Emirates ID and approvals are listed separately in the calculator, because they depend on your activity.

Do I even need bookkeeping if I hardly pay any tax?

Yes. Every company in the UAE has to keep proper books, in a free zone too and even at 0 per cent tax. The reason is Corporate Tax, in force since 1 June 2023: every company must register and file a tax return every year, within nine months after its financial year ends. That return is based on financial statements, and you only get those with ongoing bookkeeping. If you want the 0 percent rate, you have to prove with clean numbers that you meet the conditions. Above 375,000 AED in revenue, VAT with regular returns comes on top. You must keep your records for seven years. Filing late costs 500 AED for every month started, from month 13 it is 1,000 AED. That is why the first 3 months of bookkeeping are included in Guided, and the first 6 in VIP Concierge: your company starts clean from day one, and you see how it works before you decide.

Why is the guide free if you want to make money?

Because we believe information should not cost anything. We only charge for work we actually take off your hands. If you can manage on your own with the guide, you should. Many people realise along the way how much time it all takes, and then come to us.

Can I not just do it myself?

Yes, and the guide shows you how. Even on the Do it yourself option we submit the IFZA application for you, because IFZA only accepts applications through partners. The part where most people get stuck is not the licence but what comes after: tax registration within three months, the bank account, deadlines.

How long does it all take?

Allow around six weeks. The licence often arrives within a few days. In Dubai you need 7 to 14 days for the medical, Emirates ID and visa. After that, the business bank account takes 1 to 6 weeks depending on the bank.

Do I have to move to Dubai to set up?

Not for the company itself. For the visa you need to enter the country, for the medical and Emirates ID. Where you live afterwards is up to you. Check beforehand what it means for your tax position in your home country. We do not decide that part for you; we just tell you what to look out for.

    What about my family?

Your own visa has to be in place first, then your partner and children follow with a family visa. With Guided we tell you exactly where and how to apply. With VIP Concierge we handle it for the whole family. Certificates and attestations we discuss individually, because every family is different. What a family visa costs is shown further down, item by item.

What does a visa for my family cost?

Your spouse and children do not get a company visa but a family visa, which you apply for as their sponsor once your own visa is in place. Budget around AED 3,700 per person. In our own application in September 2026 it came to AED 3,705. You will also need the salary certificate from the free zone and the attested marriage certificate. A tenancy contract and health insurance were not asked for in our own application, although insurance is required by law. With Guided we tell you exactly where and how to apply. With VIP Concierge we handle it for the whole family. You can see our own receipt from September 2026 here, item by item.

What happens once the company is set up?

With Guided, your company is ready to trade straight away: corporate tax registered and a deadline calendar for your first year. Your first 3 months of bookkeeping and support are included, worth around €710, with VIP Concierge the first 6 months, worth around €1,410. Whether you then keep your ongoing bookkeeping with us is entirely up to you. There is no automatic contract.
